MICRO MESSAGE (Updated periodically): Dec 09 Just Let God Love You (based on a 1995 message by Pastor Stevens) God’s love does not demand a change. Is that true? Yes it is. God’s love does not demand a change, it produces one. “In this is love, not that we loved God. . .” (1 Jn 4:10a). Love is not us loving God, got it? What it is, is “…but that He loved us…” (1 Jn 4:10). But His love produces a response: “We love Him because He first loved us.” (1Jn 4:19). Don’t try to love God and don’t try to love other people because you will fail. Is that true? Yes it is. We have a capacity to love God and others, not because we try, but because we receive from the source. “I am the vine, you are the braches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5). God’s love does not demand a change, it produces one. The sap from the vine produces fruit. But, try as you may, without Him you can do nothing. Try to love = nothing. Abide in Him = love. God’s love produces a change in our heart, in out thinking, in our spirit.
